We ended up having a very nice service today for Kym’s grandmother.  There was mostly family and a few very close friends at the service, and everything went very well.  I appreciate all you guys who lifted up prayers on our behalf and for Kym’s dad’s family.  It was a very long day, as I ended up studying and preparing until 3a.m. at the office.  I really did want God to use His Word to impact hearts.  Please continue to pray that some of those there will be convicted about the Lord.

After a nice nap upon returning home, I took the fam for Auntie Anne’s & Marble Slab.  Is there a better dad in the world than me?  We had pretzels for dinner and ice cream for dessert.  Now it is time to retire with Kym for a good movie and a great night’s sleep.  I’ll see some of you guys in the morning at Scrambles.  7am sharp.  Scrambles is on Town East Blvd. right next to Jucy’s and right across the street from Toys ‘R Us.  All are invited!  And, come support your Berean softball teams tomorrow night at Travis Williams fields: 6:30 & 7:40.  As always, Whataburger follows!!

Let me leave you with this thought and scripture for today.  Don’t we all like to have friends?  Doesn’t a large part of teenagers’ lives revolve around their friendships?  I know this is true, b/c I’ve been a teenager and I watch you guys’ lives pretty much daily.  Sometimes we end up trying to surrond ourselves and be friends with only people who will tell us what we want to hear.  THAT’S NOT A TRUE FRIEND!!  The friend God is talking about in today’s verse is the opposite of that.  The type of friend we should build friendships with are those that care enough to say the hard things we need to hear.  THE other hard thing comes when our friend has to be honest with us.  If we truly want the godly friends that God says we should have, then we have to be willing to listen and take their words to heart.  That is what this verse is talking about.  We should, as good godly friends, be able to help make one another better spiritually.

Here’s the very point.  If we really love and trust those we call friends, then there should be no question as to whether they are being honest with us when the time comes for straight honesty.  Do not surround yourself with those who will just agree with everything you say and feel.  Seek godly friends to confide in and share your heart with.  They will be the friends that will be there when nobody else is.  AND, God will use them to help strengthen your walk with Him.

VERSE of the DAY: Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”

By the way, EL GATO de BLANCO is one of my best friends in the whole automotive world.  She will never leave you stranded and she always listens when you need to talk.  Givin’ Up the Mad Props to EL GATO!!!!
