Busy day at Berean. We’ve got all kinds of meetings these days getting prepared for the rigors of beginning a building project. It’s incredibly exciting and tiring at the same time. We’re so blessed to be at a church that is active and growing. Be in prayer for us as we strive to do what’s best to help better equip the church for ministry and growth.
I’ve been asked the question, “Where did I get EL GATO?” So, I thought I’d tell the story.
It was early on a warm, sunny school day a few months ago. There were several teenagers and myself partaking in a heart-healthy breakfast at the King of Burgers. As often happens, the conversation around the table turned powerfully silly and pointless. One L.Stanley mentioned that she loved her new car (a white Saturn) and that it was better than her old one called, “Old Blackie”. The jokes and one-liners began to flow as we made fun of both cars and tried to use all the Spanish we knew (which isn’t much). Out of all the silliness came the name, “EL GATO de BLANCO”. Lauren mentioned that her new car ran better and was faster than Old Blackie. So, we joked that it was fast like a cat. Since the car was white, we dubbed it “the White Cat”, and named it in Spanish. Ever since that beautiful morning, EL GATO has been a part of and had a profound affect on my life. I only hope that EL GATO has had the chance to brighten your life as well. If not, don’t give up. Wherever there is a tear in an eye or hurt in a heart, EL GATO will be nearby to offer his support.
In the words of EL GATO, “You just call out my name, and you know wherever I am, I’ll come running….to see you again. Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall, all you have to do is call…and I’ll be there…..You’ve got a friend.” By the way, there is another car on the scene and it goes by the name of “EL Rapido azul”! The driver of this fine automobile is also an amazing chica.
VERSE of the DAY: 1 Corinthians 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
